Homes for Sale in Mount Pleasant and Tuxedo Park, Calgary

Mount Pleasant and Tuxedo Park are two inner city communities located in the northwest and northeast quadrant of Calgary. Mount Pleasant is located in the northwest with many older homes being replaced by new infill developments, similar to Tuxedo, which is situated adjacent on the northeast side. Tuxedo can be found between the Trans-Canada Highway and 32nd Avenue NE. Down a bit further going west, you’ll see that Mount Pleasant borders the Trans-Canada Highway as well. This provides a variety of amenities and services to residents.

Either way you may be travelling along 16th avenue, you will find places to shop and things to do here. If you decide to go west you will find an abundance of retail shopping choice and everyday essentials such as North Hill Mall, Home Depot, Safeway, and Banff Trail Business Park. Simply minutes further up Shaganappi Trail you can enjoy Market Mall for up to date fashion stores. If you decide to go east instead, you have alternative amenities such as food chains, grocery stores, and retail stores crossing with Edmonton trail. However, if you prefer spending your free time outdoors, you have an incredible green space awaiting you at Tuxedo Park.

Inner-City Engagement

Both of these communities have accessibility to a number of nearby pathways and parks. Confederation Park is a large park area with a public outdoor swimming pool, indoor and outdoor hockey rinks, and multiple sports playing fields. Only a little further is the Bow River parkway, which is a great place for jogging, walking, and biking. The neighbourhood streets are covered with gorgeous mature trees and the day-to-day living is full of opportunity.

For students, you have easy access to SAIT Polytechnic and Alberta College of Art and Design on the 16th avenue NW and 10th Street NW intersection. This in turn has created a trendy strip across the road from these facilities of pubs, coffee shops, and restaurants. Whether you are a student or not, you can be sure that you’ll have an enjoyable time in that area. On the same block as SAIT and ACAD, the Jubilee Auditorium is situated to present the gift of live performances and local culture.

Public schools include Buchanan Elementary, Rosemont Elementary, Georges P. Vanier Junior High, Crescent Heights High School, and James Fowler High School.

Transportation for residents is easy in these neighbourhoods. The closest LRT station is the SAIT platform, which is approximately 1.5 kilometres from the central point of the Mount Pleasant community. For Tuxedo residents, access to downtown via centre street north is less than five minutes commute. The bus transportation is virtually pain free, then once downtown you have access to all the rest of the LRT lines and bus routes.
