New Homes for Sale in Dovercourt, Edmonton
Dovercourt is a residential neighbourhood in the northwest sector of Edmonton. 142 Street, St. Albert Trail, and 118th avenue bound the community and Dovercourt Avenue is the main road that passes through. The majority of homes were built in the late 1940’s to 1960’s with primarily single-detached homes. In the 1950’s, Dovercourt was re-plotted under direction of the city and was one of the first communities that adopted the “neighbourhood concept.”
The neighbourhood concept incorporates landscaping architecture to improve the attractiveness of the area. A curvilinear street pattern with limited access points is the familiar shape that is known in this design. The thought behind this type of development is to provide a more efficient use of land than the traditional grid pattern and give new opportunity to residents. The interior streets and walkways focus on schools and community sites at the centre of the neighbourhood. Next to the school site, you’ll even find a block of row housing.
There are a variety of commercial services in the area such as a Tim Hortons, a Dutch Delicious, and the Westmount Shopping Centre. As well, other commercial and employment centres are within a minutes drive in Edmonton and St. Albert using the St. Albert Trail. You can find just about everything you’d be looking for in the great neighbourhood of Dovercourt.
